There's something about Jacob

Hmm, what's this world coming to?

Anyway, just want to share something i shared with the guys during cell tonight. I recalled my christian name is called Jacob when i was baptised years also (Gasp, Chit has a christian name?). I cant remember why this name, but i thank God that over the years i really see some similarities between myself and Jacob.

Firstly, i must say that i have not done an in-dept bible study about Jacob. But during my quiet time i discovered abit about this man. Okay, Jacob is not the most godly man you can find in the bible. Here is a man who stole his bro's birthright and slept with his maidservant when Rachel was barren. Jacob is apparently a rather shrewd businessman(or cunning depending on how u see it). Check out how he increased his flock in Genesis 30.

But his defining moment is when he met with the angel of God on his way to meet Esau. I mean, how dare he wrestle with God? How dare he demand that God bless him? In that sense, he's holding God to ransom you know? And if it's Abraham, still acceptable la. But remember it is Jacob le, not the most godly man around.

BUT you know what. There's something about Jacob that delights God. There's something about Jacob that attracts God to him. He is so persistent that he refuses to let God go. He is so desperate for a touch from God. Wow. My personal opinion is that he is like the masculine version of the woman with the issue of blood.

Persistence. Desperation. A deep desire for God that surpasses his situations and weaknesses. Indeed, there's something about Jacob.
